The Independent National Electoral Commission has included the Social Democratic Party on the ballot for Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

INEC confirmed the change on Wednesday, days before voting begins across the state, according to a Channels Television report.

The SDP was initially absent from the final list released by the commission after failing to complete the required nomination process within the stipulated period.

Its inclusion followed a court order directing INEC to recognise the party and its candidate for the election.

With the update, SDP candidate Adeniyi Salawu Mustapha will be eligible to contest alongside candidates already cleared by the commission.

The development changes the final ballot but does not affect the election date. Voting remains scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

INEC has not announced any further changes to the list of participating parties.
