The Commander of the 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Kabir Rabiu, has directed troops deployed at the Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant to remain vigilant and avoid distractions capable of compromising security at the critical national infrastructure.

Rabiu issued the directive during an operational familiarisation visit to the power facility and the Zungeru Cemetery. He cautioned military personnel against the unnecessary use of smartphones and social media while on duty, stating that phones should only be used when operationally necessary or authorised.

The Brigade Commander also warned officers and soldiers against drug abuse, betting, and gambling. He stressed that such negative habits could undermine their personal health, discipline, and overall operational effectiveness.

During his visit to the power plant, Rabiu interacted with the facility's management and commended the troops for their dedication to safeguarding the strategic installation. The Power Plant Manager, Engineer Alfa Isah, praised the security personnel for their professionalism in protecting the facility.

Earlier in his tour, Rabiu visited the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, where he called for enhanced collaboration and intelligence sharing among security agencies to combat banditry and other criminal activities. He emphasized that timely information exchange remains vital for protecting lives, property, and critical national infrastructure across the state.

The Commander also inspected the 313 Artillery Regiment, receiving briefings on its administrative and operational activities. He commended the officers and soldiers for their sacrifices, urging them to sustain high standards of discipline, professionalism, and operational readiness.

According to the Brigade, the operational visits were designed to assess ongoing security measures, boost the morale of personnel, and strengthen inter-agency cooperation alongside infrastructure managers.
