Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has been accused of attacking the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for the Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Francis Eniade.
The alleged incident occurred just two days before the Osun governorship election. A picture circulating on X on Wednesday showed Eniade with injuries and in a pool of blood.
Claims circulating online suggest that Eniade was injured along with several other individuals during the alleged attack. One X user posted on Wednesday, “Speaker Wale Egbedun just attacked Eniade. Dozens were injured, and several cars were destroyed. Where are the so-called neutrals to condemn this?”
The Osun State Police Command had not confirmed the development at the time of filing this report.
DAILY POST reports that Egbedun is supporting the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke. Previously, Egbedun had called for the arrest of Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Francis Eniade over alleged inciting remarks.
Senator Fadahunsi appeared before the Osun State Police Command on Wednesday in response to allegations of making remarks about “Kill Accord Party supporters.”
Governor Adeleke is primarily contesting the governorship election against Bola Oyebamiji of the APC and Dr. Francis Ajala of the Social Democratic Party, whose eligibility was cleared on Wednesday.
