Even the most careful journalism sometimes contains errors. When The Verita Post publishes incorrect information, we correct it promptly and transparently.
How We Handle Corrections
Factual Errors
When a factual error is identified in a published article, we:
- Update the article immediately with the correct information.
- Add a clearly marked "Correction" or "Update" notice at the top or bottom of the article.
- Include the date of the correction and a brief description of what was changed.
Minor Typos and Grammar
Typographical errors and grammar issues are silently corrected without formal notice.
Substantive Errors
Errors that materially change the meaning of a story or misrepresent a person or organization are corrected immediately. In serious cases, we may:
- Issue a formal retraction
- Publish a follow-up article addressing the correction
- Reach out directly to affected parties
- Notify our newsletter subscribers
Reader-Submitted Corrections
We take reader-submitted corrections seriously. If you believe you've found an error in one of our articles, please contact us with:
- The URL of the article in question
- The specific text or claim you believe is incorrect
- The correct information (if known)
- Any supporting sources or documentation
Submit corrections through our contact page with the subject line "Correction Request."
Retractions
In rare cases where a story is fundamentally flawed and cannot be corrected through edits alone, we may retract it. Retracted articles are not deleted; instead, they are clearly marked as retracted with a full explanation of the retraction.
Transparency
We do not silently remove or dramatically edit published stories without notice. Our commitment to transparency means readers can trust that what they read reflects our best understanding of events at any given time.
Response Time
We aim to review and act on correction requests within 24 hours during business days. Serious errors involving legal or reputational issues are addressed immediately upon verification.
