Dr Mohammed Kpautagi, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State, has officially unveiled former Commissioner of Works, Mamman Musa Bosso, as his running mate for the upcoming 2027 governorship election. The announcement was made at the IBB Pen House in Minna.

Kpautagi stated that the ADC intends to conduct an issue-based campaign, focusing on providing solutions to the state's challenges rather than engaging in propaganda, intimidation, or hatred. He highlighted that Bosso's selection was based on his extensive political experience, administrative track record, and collaborative abilities, describing the ticket as a blend of political acumen and technical expertise.

The ADC's campaign platform will address critical issues affecting Niger State residents, including insecurity, inadequate healthcare services, educational deficiencies, youth unemployment, and the need for improved road infrastructure and prudent management of public funds. Kpautagi indicated that the party plans to engage with communities across the state to solicit voter support through a peaceful and orderly campaign process once the official campaign period commences.

“We want a campaign that is based on issues and solutions, not propaganda, intimidation and hatred,” Kpautagi said. He outlined that key priorities for a potential ADC administration would include enhancing healthcare facilities, improving schools, bolstering state security, constructing roads, and addressing the plight of unemployed youths. The party also pledged a commitment to transparent and responsible management of public resources, emphasizing that governance should prioritize the needs of the populace.

Responding to his nomination, Bosso described the selection as a call to public service and pledged his commitment to working alongside Kpautagi to deliver accountable and people-centered leadership. He noted that a significant objective of their proposed administration would be to restore the proper functioning of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Bosso alleged that the current governance structure in the state allows for excessive centralization of power, stating that government institutions should be empowered to fulfill their statutory mandates. He affirmed that the ADC ticket is dedicated to securing a brighter future for the people of Niger State, particularly the youth and children, through effective governance and inclusive decision-making.

Abdulhamid El-Waziri, the ADC State Chairman, urged voters to elect capable leaders at all governmental levels, emphasizing the need for leaders who can effectively tackle the hardships faced by citizens. Bosso has previously served as a commissioner in various capacities, including Works, Youth and Sports, Water Resources, and Budget and Planning under the administration of former Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
