The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) has announced it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Nollywood Yoruba actress Temitope Osoba, who passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the age of 40. The probe comes amid allegations linking her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, a shepherd within the church, to the controversial events preceding her death.
In a statement signed by AVSE Kayode Ajala, Head of Media and Publicity for the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, the church expressed deep sadness over Osoba's passing and significant concern regarding the controversy involving Onadeko. The allegations, the church stated, have negatively impacted its reputation, emphasizing that the CCC does not endorse practices such as idolatry, black magic, cultism, or the use of charms.
The church described the allegations against Onadeko as "quite embarrassing" and asserted that it would not remain inactive while its name is allegedly tarnished. The CCC confirmed it has commenced a discreet investigation to uncover the truth behind Osoba's death and is committed to ensuring justice.
"As a church, we are already discreetly investigating the circumstances that led to the death of Temitope Osoba, and we wish to assure the general public that the Celestial Church of Christ would leave no stone unturned to unearth the truth, and to ensure that anyone found culpable in the death of Temitope Osoba is brought to justice," the statement read.
The Celestial Church of Christ also urged the police and other relevant law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the actress's death. The church expressed its readiness to collaborate with these agencies to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable.
Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head Worldwide of the CCC, has directed the church's internal mechanisms to work towards establishing the truth and serving justice. The church indicated that if the allegations against Prophet Itunu Onadeko are substantiated by the ongoing investigations, he will face both internal disciplinary actions and the full extent of legal repercussions.
"If the allegations against Prophet Itunu Onadeko of the Celestial Church of Christ are found to be true at the end of ongoing investigations, he would not only be made to face the internal sanctions of the church, but he would also be made to face the full length of the law," the statement concluded.
The church extended its condolences to Osoba's family and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the actress's soul.
