Adeleke Commissions Ilesa Road, Pledges Health Tech Upgrade to Polytechnic

Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday commissioned a dualised road in Ilesa and held a campaign rally. The Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, requested the upgrade of Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, to a Polytechnic of Health. Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday visited Ilesa, where he commissioned a dualisation road project and combined the event with campaign activities ahead of the 15 August governorship election.

The event attracted a range of dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, state commissioners, and other government officials.

During the visit, the Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, formally tabled a request for the upgrade of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, to a full Polytechnic of Health. The traditional ruler presented the demand as part of broader development aspirations for Ijeshaland.

Governor Adeleke responded affirmatively, stating that the request was accepted and that his administration would work on the upgrade. The assurance was delivered publicly at the event.

Also present was the Students’ Union Government President of the College of Health Technology, Comr. Badiru Rohees Olawale (Moore) with proactive comrades and student leaders, representing the student body.

The College of Health Technology, Ilesa, established in 1977, currently operates as a specialised monotechnic offering programmes in community health, medical laboratory, environmental health, dental technology, health information management and related fields. Stakeholders have previously advocated for its elevation to polytechnic status to expand academic scope, improve accreditation pathways and enhance graduate opportunities.
