AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS (AAC) candidate for the Ejigbo State Constituency, COMR. ABOLAYO MUJEEB AKINOLA, has unveiled a series of proposed education, skills acquisition and empowerment initiatives targeted at residents of the constituency.

The candidate made the announcements on Thursday during the flag-off of his campaign in Ejigbo, where he outlined what he described as programmes aimed at improving access to education, vocational training and economic opportunities for residents.

Among the key announcements was a proposed 16-slot NCE scholarship programme.

According to the aspirant, the selected beneficiaries would be sponsored to study for a National Certificate in Education (NCE), with their tuition fees covered throughout their programme.

He instructed the ward chairmen to submit the names of the proposed beneficiaries before the end of next week, stressing that early submission would allow the necessary arrangements to be made ahead of time.

The candidate also announced plans to support 67 secondary school students through the payment of their school fees and provision of essential educational materials.

The materials mentioned included school bags, 24 exercise books per student, mathematical sets and other necessary learning materials.

In the area of vocational empowerment, the aspirant announced a programme for 25 beneficiaries, who he said would undergo six months of vocational training.

He said the necessary costs associated with the training would be covered, while working materials would also be provided to the beneficiaries to enable them to begin utilising their acquired skills after completing the programme.

The candidate further announced an OHIS initiative for 50 beneficiaries, adding it to the list of programmes targeted at improving the welfare and opportunities available to residents of the constituency.

He also announced the names of the ward chairmen across the various wards in Ejigbo, who are expected to play a role in coordinating the submission of beneficiaries for the announced programmes and election coordination in the constituency.

After announcing the beneficiary slots and interventions, the candidate went on to present his broader agenda for the Ejigbo State Constituency, outlining other plans he said would benefit residents and contribute to the development of the constituency.

The campaign flag-off was attended by party State Chairman, Party Stakeholders, Party members, supporters and residents, with the candidate using the occasion to present his agenda for the constituency ahead of the election after giving out the slot to students and residence of Ejigbo.

The announcements place emphasis on education, vocational training, youth empowerment and social intervention, while further details on the implementation process, selection criteria and timelines are expected to emerge.
