Professor Is-haq Oloyede on Friday formally handed over to Professor Segun Aina as Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, bringing to an end ten years of leadership at the examination body.

President Bola Tinubu appointed Aina to succeed Oloyede. The announcement was made by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

The Presidency noted that Aina has more than 15 years of experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional reforms and systems design. He has served as a consultant to examination bodies including the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, with particular focus on ICT systems and examination integrity.

Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would consolidate the reforms recorded under Oloyede and further strengthen the operations of the board. The incoming registrar is described as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering and will become the youngest registrar in JAMB’s history.

Oloyede’s tenure was marked by significant changes in the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, including expanded use of computer-based testing and efforts to improve transparency in the admissions process. The formal handover on 31 July marks the institutional transition to new leadership.
