The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspects in Modakeke, Ife East Local Government Area, for alleged conspiracy, attempted murder, assault occasioning harm, and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms. The arrests were made on August 9, 2026, following a petition submitted to the Commissioner of Police.

The four individuals arrested are Olufemi Olatunji, 39; Ajayi Idowu, 31; Akingbala Oluwakemi, 40; and Adekunle Basirat, 40. During searches of their residences and premises, police recovered two firearms. A locally made cut-to-size firearm was found in the shop of Adekunle Basirat, identified as the wife of Solomon Akinlabi, alias “Indomine.” Additionally, a pump-action firearm was recovered from the residence of Akingbala Oluwakemi, wife of Akingbala Akindele, alias “Ostand.”

According to a statement from the Osun State Police Command, the suspects are currently in custody and cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals believed to be involved and currently at large.

In a related development, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Command arrested six suspected members of an unlawful society. This action followed information that armed individuals had invaded the Iree campus, using dangerous weapons and injuring two students.

The arrested suspects in the campus incident are Ajoba Akorede, 27; Adam Oseni, 27; Ogunrinde Ayomide, 21; Ogunlana Muheez, 26; Ajose Noah, 25; and Adeniyi Damola, 25.

During interrogation, Ajoba Akorede and Adam Oseni reportedly confessed to being members of the Aye confraternity. The police stated that investigations are continuing, and all suspects will face charges in court upon completion of the investigation.
