The Nigerian Army has detained two serving soldiers for allegedly providing unauthorised security at the wedding of TikTok personalities Habeeb Hamzat (Peller) and Jarvis, held in Lekki, Lagos, over the weekend.
The personnel were identified as Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa (Service No. 23NA/85/10007) and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi (Service No. 23NA/85/7885). Both are attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) in Obalende, Lagos.
Military sources said the soldiers were arrested on Tuesday after videos from the high-profile wedding circulated widely on social media. The clips showed uniformed soldiers controlling access at the venue and escorting some guests. One video that drew significant attention allegedly captured a soldier accompanying TikTok personality Ivanna through the crowd.
A military source confirmed that preliminary investigations are underway to determine the full extent of their involvement and establish whether other personnel were connected to the incident.
The Nigerian Army prohibits serving personnel from engaging in private security duties or accepting unauthorised deployments. The appearance of soldiers in uniform at a private celebrity event generated public criticism.
As of the time of this report, the Army had not issued a detailed public statement beyond confirming the arrests. The investigation remains ongoing.
